Business Costs

The Advertised Price Isn't the Real Price

What Vagaro and Booksy actually cost a solo beauty professional once add-ons and marketplace fees are added in, compared to Easy Beauty's flat rate.

$23.99 a month. $29.99 a month. Those are the numbers you see on the pricing page. They're not what most solo professionals actually pay by month three.

Here's what's really in the bill, using Vagaro's and Booksy's published 2026 pricing.

Vagaro: the base plan is just the starting point

Vagaro's solo plan runs $23.99 to $30/month depending on current promotions. That covers your calendar and basic booking. What it doesn't cover, unless you add it separately:

  • Text marketing beyond the base allowance: $20/month
  • Advanced analytics (Data Lake): $40/month
  • Card processing: 2.2% to 3.5% per transaction, on top of everything else

Add the two common add-ons most solo professionals end up wanting, and a $24/month plan becomes an $84/month plan. That's before a single card is swiped.

Booksy: a similar shape, plus an optional marketplace cut

Booksy's solo plan is $29.99/month, all core features included. No hidden tiers there, that part is fair. But two things add up fast for a solo IBP:

  • Card processing: 2.49% + $0.10 per transaction through Booksy Pay
  • Boost, their opt-in marketplace commission: 30% of the service price on the first booking from any new client Boost sends you, the same shape as StyleSeat's marketplace fee

If you opt into Boost for new-client discovery, and it works, the same math from our commission breakdown applies here too. On a $120 service, that's $36 per new client, one time. At 3 new clients a month, that's $1,296/year, on top of the $359.88/year subscription.

What it adds up to

For a solo professional running a $120 average ticket with 3 new clients a month:

Annual platform cost comparison for Vagaro, Booksy, and Easy Beauty
Cost categoryVagaro (with 2 common add-ons)Booksy (with Boost)Easy Beauty
Subscription$288 to $360/year$359.88/year$299.88/year
Add-ons~$720/year$0 (Boost is commission, not a fee)$0, everything included
New-client commission$0 (no marketplace commission on base plan)$1,296/year (if Boost is on)$0, ever
Total~$1,000 to $1,080/year~$1,656/year$299.88/year

The numbers move depending on which add-ons you turn on and whether Boost is active, but the direction doesn't change. Every optional feature on these platforms is billed separately. On Easy Beauty, it's already included.

The pattern

Neither Vagaro nor Booksy is dishonest about these fees, they're published, and predictable if you go looking for them. But the advertised number is never the real number. Easy Beauty's flat $24.99/month is the real number. No add-on tiers, no marketplace opt-ins, no surprises three months in.

One flat subscription. Everything included. Zero commission, ever.
